When weather gets hot and still, with a gentle east wind and slick bay in summertime…. conditions are right for a jubilee. Mobile Bay is one of only two locations in the world (Tokyo – the other) where waters become so oxygen-depleted fish and sea life lurch to the surface and shore en masse. Phones ring early morning on the Eastern Shore– with the call from friends to grab nets, flounder gigs and hit the beach. Sometimes just mullet, or a combination of crabs, eels and flounder, it’s a seafood buffet that often puts local dinner on the table. Don’t forget to bring that 5 gallon bucket!
