Fairhope’s Storybook Castles are actually two properties, joined together in a tucked-away wonderland by family legacy and artistic creativity.

These magical, one-of-a-kind handcrafted treasures were created over more than sixty years, beginning with Sheldon’s Castle, home of the legendary artist and sculptor, Craig Sheldon. A non-descript cottage grew a tower as he built his children’s bedrooms one atop the other. The home would then castle-ize completely in the Brothers Grimm inspiration that followed.

The whimsical home also inspired daughter Pagan….. as she and husband Dean Mosher would build their own castle next door. With a river stone bridge between that surely hosts a troll underneath, the Mosher castle pays homage to classic fairy tale design. You’ll even spot a long yellow braid dangling from the tower- as Rapunzel appears now and then.

Both houses are works of art featured on HGTV, Alabama Public Television and in countless publications.
